Whether you consider yourself an artist, or you’re simply looking for something fun to do on the weekend, Denver has some great ways to explore your creative side. These options make for perfect opportunities to learn a new skill, meet some new people in the area, or enjoy some time with your family. Here are some activities I’d recommend if you’re looking to get creative in Denver:

Make and Mingle: Acrylic Paint Pouring – ArtSPARK Creative Studio

This “Make and Mingle” event is hosted regularly at ArtSPARK Creative Studio in Littleton, only 20 minutes south of downtown Denver. It’s both an art and social event, designed for adults who want to get out and meet new people. It’s a great networking opportunity and a fun way to unwind. Their upcoming workshop on Acrylic Paint Pouring is taking place on Saturday, October 27th, 2018 from 7:00-9:00PM. They provide beverages and materials, and you’ll go home with your own work of art.

The Art of Brunch – Santa Fe Art District

If you consider yourself a foodie a who appreciates art, this is the event for you. “The Art of Brunch” is a gallery-hopping event in the Sante Fe Art District. It’s hosted on the last Sunday of the month in the spring and fall seasons. The fun twist is that this event is also a brunch crawl, with each creative business and gallery serving up complimentary brunch bites as you meander through. There are two more Sundays to catch this fall — October 28th and November 25th. This free event takes place from 11:00AM-3:00PM.

Art Emergency – Denver Art Museum

If you’re looking to plan something fun to do with the kids over a school vacation, the Denver Art Museum has just the thing. Each break, they host a family-friendly play series called “Art Emergency: Code Red”. This production is funny and fast-paced, and it gives you and your kids an insight into some of the famous artworks that can be found right in the Denver Art Museum. After the show, you’ll get cards to help you hunt down the artwork in the galleries. These plays are included in the museum’s general admission, so they’re a great way to take your visit to the next level.

The Art Garage

Whether you’re looking to take up a new hobby or acquire new artistic skills, the Art Garage is the perfect place to start. They’re located right in the city, on 6100 E. 23rd Ave., and they regularly offer class series and studio workshops. It’s a great place for adults to get their creativity flowing with classes in Watercolor Painting and Printmaking, and they also offer classes for teens, kids, and toddlers. Their “Young @ Art: Art Garage Tots (Toddler and Me)” class provides a place where you can get creative and messy with your toddler and socialize with other parents. Their upcoming kids class,“The Skinny on Skeletons” is geared towards ages 4-12 and takes place on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018 from 1:00PM-4:00PM. Check their schedule for more class options to find the one that’s right for you.

Board & Brush

This new DIY event studio is absolutely worth a visit. Board & Brush’s workshops are similar to a “Paint n’ Sip” experience, but with a vintage-looking custom sign as an end product. It’s a great excuse for a night out with friends or a team-building event for your office. The instructors will guide your group to distress, sand, and stain the wood and create customized stencils to make a unique piece of art. No experience or creative abilities are necessary for this artistic experience. Find them on 1499 Blake Street, 1K, in Denver.

Even if you don’t think of yourself as someone who loves art, a creative outlet can be a great way to unwind after a long week at work. Check out one of these activities around the city, and you might even find yourself picking up a new hobby. Do you know of any other artistic events in Denver? Share them in the comments.
