Each month, Fannie Mae’s National Housing Survey polls 1,000 Americans to assess their attitudes toward homeownership, household finances, and overall economic confidence. And though confidence in personal finances fell in July, 61 percent of participants said they’d buy their next home and 50 percent saw stable home prices over the next 12 months. Respondents expect home prices to fall by just 0.3 percent in the next year and 23 percent of those surveyed said they expect values to increase. Still, optimism about personal finances fell, with only 35 percent of Americans saying they expect their financial situation to improve over the next 12 months, down 5 percent from June.
