According to online research, August had the lowest number of foreclosure filings in 8 years. Filings fell 44% from the previous month to 55,575, down nearly 500 from the previous low of 56,063, recorded back in October 2005. In a state-by-state ranking of filing frequency, Nevada, Florida and Ohio held the top three spots. While this would seem to indicate that the worst of the housing crisis is over, there was still a 6% increase in homes repossessed by lenders. More here
