The Hanley Wood Housing 360 Survey polled 3,005 homeowners and renters across the country and asked them 70 questions on homeownership, renting, remodeling, financing, homebuying, and other economic concerns. The survey found Americans still value homeownership and many hope to buy within the next two years. Among the results, the vast majority of renters and owners think now is a good or very good time to buy and 19 percent of homeowners and 29 percent of renters said they’re considering buying a home in the next two years. Nearly 30 percent of participants said they’re living with adult children or parents. The findings support the belief that there may be up to two million potential buyers waiting for the right time to get in the market. Among respondents, 29 percent of owners and 12 percent of renters said they’d prefer to buy a new home. 34 percent of owners and 41 percent of renters said they’d prefer a previously owned home.
